Jessops And Mob Film Set Up Short Film Competition

Posted on Oct 25, 2011 by Alex Fice

Jessops, the UK photographic retailer, has teamed up with The Mob Film Company to launch a short film competition. Budding filmmakers up and down the country are being urged to put their work in the spotlight.

Using nothing but a Digital Camera or DSLR camera’s movie function, participants must produce a 10 minute short film entitled “The Shot”. Entries will be put before a judging panel of film and television directors, headed by Paul WS Anderson, Director of the Resident Evil series and the forthcoming Three Musketeers 3D.

The competition, which runs until early next year, is open to everyone in the UK and offers one lucky winner a very special prize: an all-expenses paid trip to spend the day with Paul WS Anderson on the set of his latest movie. In addition, the winner will also receive a £5000 camera package, courtesy of Nikon.

Paul got his first big break in 1994 with the release of cult classic Shopping, and from there went on to direct Event Horizon. Speaking at the launch, Mr Anderson said: “I know how hard it can be to get a lucky break in this business. I also know that there are a lot of talented young filmmakers out there. So for me, it was an easy decision when Jessops asked me to chair the judging panel. I’m really excited to see what people come up with.”

Paul added: “This is a great opportunity for young film makers. It’s not about who attends the best film school, it’s about pure talent. Please have a go, I have some fantastic judges working with me on this awesome project, we are all really looking forward to seeing some excellent entries.”
