Blackmagic Design Re-invent The Broadcast Deck

Posted on May 12, 2011 by Alex Fice

Blackmagic Design’s HyperDeck ShuttleBlackmagic Design has announced, amongst many other new products (check their web site for details) the HyperDeck Shuttle and Studio. The Shuttle is a new disk recorder that captures uncompressed 10 bit SDI or HDMI video onto Solid State Disks (SSDs). It’s also battery powered so it’s designed for recording high quality on location shoots, or for use as a deck with live production switchers. HyperDeck Shuttle is only $345.

Also new is HyperDeck Studio , a replacment VTR product that has two SSDs with function buttons, a jog wheel for jog and shuttle, plus external RS-422 control. The high resolution LCD screen displays timecode and transport information plus a full colour thumbnail preview of the current clip in record and playback. Crystal look buttons give customers full transport control just like a broadcast deck.
