NAB 2013: Quantel Show 3rd Party Video Card Interoperability For The First Time

The AJA Corvid card.

Quantel has announced that its Pablo Rio high-end colour and finishing system supports the AJA Corvid Ultra video card, facilitating workflows at 4K 60fps and beyond. This is the first time that Quantel has offered interoperability with any third party video card – reflecting the open, software-based strategy that enables Quantel to take full advantage of all the latest advances in off-the-shelf computer technology.

The AJA Corvid Ultra is being offered by Quantel as an option in Pablo Rio turnkey systems and is available from AJA resellers for software-only versions where customers configure their own system. Much more than just a video card, the Corvid Ultra is a professional solution that provides broadcast standard connectors on a rack-mounted break-out box. The Corvid Ultra card enables Pablo Rio to deliver realtime 4K video output to 3840 x 2160 (quad HD), 4096 x 2160, 3D, 2K and more, and is the only solution available today that is capable of supporting 4K at 60fps.

“Pablo Rio delivers an excellent open architecture solution for professional colour grading, editing and effects, and we’re pleased to facilitate streamlined 4K and high framerate workflows for Quantel customers, who can now benefit from Corvid Ultra as part of their hardware configuration,” said Nick Rashby, president, AJA Video Systems.

“AJA’s Corvid Ultra offers unique 4K workflow capabilities and fills the needs of Pablo Rio customers by delivering support for everything from high framerate 4K to Stereo3D 2K and more. The Corvid Ultra delivers the high-end features and quality our customers demand and all at a great price point, maintaining Pablo Rio’s client-appeal with its interactivity and brilliant whole-project workflow whatever the demands of the job,” said Steve Owen, Quantel Marketing Director.

Support for AJA Corvid Ultra will be available in V2.0 rev2 software, released this month.
