Spot the Sony PMW-F3

Sony’s PMW-F3 camcorder on it’s first drama for the BBC but can you see it! © Tim Palmer

The camera rig above is from what is believed to be the first UK drama – We’ll Take Manhattan – to have been shot on the new Sony PMW-F3 camcorder. Because of the BBC restrictions of data rate DoP Tim Palmer had to record to an after market recording device, in this case the NanoFlash. The internal data rate isn’t acceptable for broadcasting. Unfortunately that means loading the camera up with a rats nest of cables and other devices, hence F3 disappearing trick. Full story coming soon.
