Posted on Jul 2, 2010 by Alex Fice

Wondering where your recently ordered 5D MkII is? Don’t blame her, the US army might have it!The shortage of Canon EOS 5D MkIIs on the market at the moment maybe down to the United States forces buying in bulk. The US army is believed to have bought 2024 5D MkIIs and the US Navy 234.

According to DP John Rossetti each 5D came as part of a kit. “I was using one of theirs last week. Each kit is in 3 (sort of Peli) cases, with a:

16-35 f2.8
28-300 f3.5
17mm f4
50mm f1.2
100mm f2
200mm f2
400mm f2.8 Stabilized
800mm f5.6 Stabilized
Extender EF2x2
Flash Unit
5 4Gb Cards

A Major who was on my tail most of the time said the kits cost $60,000.”
