Codex Digital – The Vault

Posted on May 17, 2011 by Alex Fice

The Codex Vault has initial support for RED drives, CF cards and SxS cardsCodex Digital has launched The Vault, a new on-set laboratory solution for review, and dailies and deliverables production that supports, at the moment, digital cinema cameras made by RED, ARRI, Sony and other leading manufacturers.

A fully featured Vault is a standalone solution requiring no external drives. Rather it includes its own internal transfer drives. Additionally, through its ability to support all of the most popular professional cameras it provides a single, standardized workflow for productions employing multiple camera systems. It also claims to have the capability to produce deliverables in all formats required for dailies review, post production and archival purposes.

Other key features include:

·         Support for RED drives, CF cards and SxS cards.
·         Enables high speed, secure data transfers.
·         Review dailies directly from the Vault.
·         Data management and metadata server
·         Studio or set h.264 wireless server (enables iPad dailies)
·         Rugged design to hold up on-set or on-location.

“The Vault is the solution that cinematographers, producers and DITs have been waiting for: it provides a simple, seamless workflow that can be applied to all cameras and service all deliverable needs,” said Codex Digital Managing Director Marc Dando. “It eliminates much of the complexity involved in designing production workflows while taking full advantage of the efficiencies of file-based production and the ability to share rich metadata.”

Codex Digital plans to begin delivering The Vault this summer.
