What happens in Vegas: NAB 2025 preview

Posted on Mar 26, 2025 by Admin

Definition brings you a sneak peek of what’s in store for NAB Show Las Vegas 2025, highlighting the top tech and talks to tune in to

Words Nicola Foley

At last year’s NAB, AI stole the spotlight, nifty workflow solutions were everywhere and hot launches included the Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K camera and Atomos’ Sun Dragon – but what’s in store for this year’s gathering in the Vegas sunshine? Let’s get into it!

The expo is back at the Las Vegas Convention Center 5-9 April, bringing together M&E pros from all corners of the globe for talks, seminars and a peek at the top new tools and tech. Organisers expect around 67,000 attendees, and the show floor will be buzzing with 1300 exhibitors spanning film production, sports broadcasting, streaming, AI, cloud virtualisation and the creator economy.

North Hall, home to CineCentral, will be our first stop, offering live demos, expert-led training and hands-on experiences that let you test out the latest cameras, lighting set-ups and post-production tech. This is the place to geek out over the future of film and production technology! Also housed in North Hall will be stands from big players like ARRI, Fujifilm, Sony, Panasonic, Canon, ROE, Kino-Flo and lots more. As always, you can expect a flood of new gear releases for the show. We’ll also be checking out the SMPTE Future of Cinema Conference, featuring talks including Scene in a New Light – which delves into how new tech is enhancing visual storytelling – and AI from the Trenches, which will explore how AI is actively being used across production and the successes and failures therein.

Across the packed content schedule – which boasts more than 550 talks in total – AI is set to be a key topic again for 2025, with big questions being asked about its role in the future of media production. Gary Levitt, co-founder of Future Moments, will ask whether AI is a tool or a threat to creatives, while Andy Jarosz, virtual production supervisor at SMASH Virtual Studios, and DOP David Stump, ASC, BVK consider whether generative AI is fundamentally changing the cinema landscape as we know it. You can also join in an AI video editing workshop, explore OpenAI’s Sora and RunwayML, as well as hear about time-saving AI tools for your workflow in From Script to Screen – More Creative in a Fraction of the Time.

Returning this year is Post Production World – a major training conference for production and post-production professionals. Taking place in South Hall, sessions will cover the latest workflows, production tips, editing techniques and new tech in the area.

The heartland of NAB is broadcast tech, so for those interested in that side of the biz, there will be plenty to sink your teeth into. The TechConnect conference, partnering with NAB Show for the first time, will dive deep into the future of the field, spanning TV, digital, radio and the broader media and IT ecosystem.

Additional highlights include AWS F1 simulators, the AI Innovation Pavilion –where AI solutions take centre stage – and PropelME’s Startup Stage, which connects emerging companies to investors. At the Main Stage, see industry heavyweights such as Nick Khan (president of WWE), Raghvender Arni (director of cloud & AI innovation for AWS) and Gérard Medioni (VP and distinguished scientist at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios).

To the right, you can find some of the key stands you’ll want to check out on the show floor this year!

The platform moved almost three billion assets in 2024 and keeps expanding beyond fast file transfer with new ways to interact with media.

This year, it highlights its camera-to-any-cloud capability, demonstrating how productions can seamlessly move high-resolution media to any storage destination as it’s being captured. The platform also enhances searchability, with a unique and flexible approach to third-party metadata.
