DSLR engineering from TurkeyWalking around the NAB2012 looking for a support rig for your new camera can be a thankless task as there are hundreds to choose from. Well hopefully our legwork might help you as we think we have found a product that is superbly engineered at the same time as being very good value for money.

Edelkrone is based in Turkey and makes support rigs from a simple DSLR Pocket Rig to the full modular system say for your new Canon C500.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating or holding and these rigs are beautifully made. If you’re looking for manufacturer tech then here it is. All their parts (even the plastic parts) are 100% CNC machined. They never use methods like casting, bending or welding like most rig manufacturers. They also use the strongest and lightest type of Aluminium (5000 & 6000 series) in all of their Aluminum parts. This isn’t some bottom of the garden shed operation.

Edelkrone claim they can handle any camera and any accessory as part of their ‘Modula’ range, that seems apparent from their website which also acts as their shop front. Rig prices are from around $300 for the DSLR Pocket Rig up to around $2,600 for their ‘No compromise’ everything-in rig. Lots of parts are much cheaper.
