At Broadley Studio, things are done a little differently.

One of few independent, green-screen VP studios in London, Broadley offers a full-service solution at a fraction of the cost of hiring an LED volume.

Its green-screen set-up includes a comprehensive package of top tech, such as Brainstorm’s InfinitySet (for real-time compositing), Mo-Sys’ StarTracker Max (to capture tracking data), Aston 3D, a Mark Roberts Motion Control studio bot and integrated Unreal Engine workflows, producing photorealistic virtual sets and environments while consuming far less energy than an LED stage.

With a portfolio encompassing talk shows, music videos, light entertainment, podcasts, short films, title sequences and corporate communications, Broadley can service any type of VP project.

“We’re moving from strength to strength,” says Richard Landy, founder, managing director and executive producer at Broadley, who’s been with the business for nearly three decades – first as an employee and then an owner as of 2004. Now, after nearly a decade under Landy’s direction, “we’re starting to work with bigger brands, streamers, government agencies, corporations, everybody – and do a variety of jobs across a variety of sectors.”

For Landy, that growth stems from three things: investing in top-quality tech, building lasting relationships with brands and, most importantly, working very hard. “The studio is a unique central London offering; nobody else is doing it like us,” he believes. “There seem to be lots of people with LED walls, but not many with green screens” – a key differentiator, especially when it comes to multicam workflows.

The Broadley team has spent years perfecting the green-screen multicam VP pipeline, which can be done in real time at 4K resolution to support live streamed content. They are also eyeing and investing in new technologies, such as AI-assisted pipelines and advanced motion control and robotics from MRMC – all of which “really uplift our offering,” says Landy. An industry veteran, he knows the value of a good reputation. “We’re developing a loyal client base by creating content that hopefully always stands out from the crowd. Our VP journey has been long and expensive but enjoyable,” he concludes, touting his team for their ‘hard work and determination’ at every step.
