Euro Cine expo 2026 preview

Posted on Apr 20, 2026 by Admin

Euro Cine Expo is moving from Munich to Budapest for its 2026 edition. We find out more

One of Europe’s key trade fairs for production and media pros is back for its fifth edition, but this time with a Hungarian twist. Previously based in Munich, the event will now take place from 8 to 9 May at Hungexpo, Budapest. If you’re considering getting yourself to the city of spas to soak up the latest production trends and technology – here’s a taster of what to expect!

The 2026 edition is lining up to be a great show, with a bustling expo and curated programme of bold short films, documentaries and creative works from invited guests and emerging talent across Europe. Selected screenings will feature Q&As with filmmakers, highlighting new voices, diverse perspectives and original storytelling.

Attendees can also expect panels and workshops, an industry-focused expo, ample networking opportunities and the Euro Cine Awards, which recognise trailblazers and career achievement. With central and eastern Europe taking centre stage, Hungary isn’t just hosting – it’s making a strong case for itself. The National Film Institute of Hungary will pull back the curtain on NFI Studios and Filmlab, with insights from Tamás Kovács and Viktória Sovák. Expect a closer look at what makes the country an increasingly attractive destination for productions. There’s also a strong focus on sustainability, with sessions on green filming, energy-efficient lighting and eco-friendly power solutions aiming to move the conversation forward.

And for those curious about the region’s creative identity, panels on eastern European cinematography and Hungary’s service industry will dig into both the artistic and logistical sides of filmmaking here. The Made in Hungary – Filming in the Heart of Europe session, led by Csaba Káel, promises a compelling overview of why more productions are heading east.

New for 2026 is a mini summit on AI, with industry professionals including independent workflow consultant Miga Bär, FilmLight’s image engineer Daniele Siragusano, Storyline’s senior colourist Christian Wieberg-Nielsen, DOPs Roberto Schaefer, David Stump and Kommer Kleijn, with moderator Henning Rädlein.

Tim Kang, Aputure’s principal imaging engineer, is returning to the show and will be shining a light on colour science and lighting fixtures. Euro Cine Expo will also feature an event hosted by Women in Cinematography and will conclude with a session from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, with ACES moderator Henning Rädlein, who will be joined by panellists including Steve Tobenkin and Christian Wieberg-Nielsen. There’s plenty here to explore.
